Product Description
This Refrigerator Defrost Thermostat is a safety device that clips onto the evaporator in the freezer section of the appliance. The Defrost Thermostat turns off the defrost heater in case it gets too warm in the freezer section. This part opens at 50-deg. F and closes at 25-deg. F. If your refrigerator does not defrost, both the thermostat and heater can be tested with a multimeter (item 964740) to determine which part is at fault. Replacing the thermostat will require basic hand tools and some disassembly of the refrigerator. Previous repair experience will be helpful but is not necessary. You must unplug the refrigerator or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Recommended Item: You will need a set of Wire Connectors (item 3288795) to complete this repair.
